Traditional active-learning classrooms struggled to differentiate instruction and accelerate individual mastery for undergraduate physics students.
An AI employee more than doubled learning gains compared to active-learning classrooms, with an effect size of 0.73–1.3 standard deviations (anything above 0.4 is educationally significant). Median post-test scores reached 4.5 with the AI tutor versus 3.5 in control groups.
